3,700-Mile 2003 Aston Martin DB AR1 6-Speed

This 2003 Aston Martin DB AR1 is number 62 of 99 examples built and now has 3,700 miles. It is finished in Seafoam Green over beige quilted leather upholstery and power comes from a 5.9-liter quad-cam V12 linked with a six-speed manual transmission and a factory limited-slip differential. Features include 18″ five-spoke wheels, power-folding mirrors, heated and power-adjustable seats, air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo with a six-disc CD changer, and an aluminum shift knob and switchgear. The car was first registered in North Carolina and spent time in Texas, Washington, and California before it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024. This DB AR1 is now offered with an owner’s guide, a clean Carfax report, and a California title.

The DB AR1, or American Roadster 1, was designed in a collaboration between Henrik Fisker at Aston Martin and Italian coachbuilder Zagato and debuted at the 2003 Los Angeles Auto Show. Based on the standard DB7 Vantage Volante platform, the Zagato-styled DB AR1 shared its front and rear bumper covers, front grille, and prominent rear fenders with the contemporary DB7 Zagato coupe. The hand-formed aluminum bodywork on this example is finished in Seafoam Green and features a double-bubble rear deck, power-folding mirrors, fog lights, and Zagato badging. The DB AR1 was delivered from the factory without a top. Scratches on the front valance can be seen in the gallery.

The five-spoke 18″ wheels are mounted with 225/40 front and 275/35 rear Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires. Stopping power is provided by silver-painted multi-piston calipers with black Aston Martin script over slotted rotors.

The cockpit features heated power-adjustable bucket seats trimmed in beige leather along with a matching lower dashboard, center console, rear luggage shelf, and door panels. A dark green dashpad and carpets are fitted, and metallic green trim accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Diamond-pattern stitching can be found on the seats and rear luggage shelf, and additional equipment includes a Becker/Aston Martin AM/FM stereo with a trunk-mounted six-disc CD changer as well as automatic climate control, a fire extinguisher, and an aluminum shift knob, pedals, and HVAC control knobs.

The two-tone leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline as well as a 200-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows 3,700 miles.

A plaque on the door sill lists the car as #62 of 99 built.

The 5.9-liter DOHC V12 was rated at 435 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque when new.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
