This 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is powered by a 3.2-liter M104 inline-six linked with a four-speed automatic transmission, both of which were reportedly sourced from a Mercedes-Benz E320. The car is finished in blue over tan upholstery and features a removable hardtop, a blue soft top, disc brakes, and 14″ steel wheels with painted covers along with a Becker Europa stereo and an under-dash air conditioning unit. This W113 SL was acquired by the selling dealer in 2026 and is now offered in California with a car cover, an owner’s manual, a tool kit, and clean South Carolina title.

The W113 SL was designed by Friedrich Geiger, Béla Barényi, and Paul Bracq and was introduced to the public at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show. This example is finished in blue and has a removable hardtop, a blue soft top, US-specification headlights, and chrome-finished bumpers with overriders.

The 14″ steel wheels feature covers with painted centers and are mounted with Hankook Kinergy tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted four-wheel discs.

The cabin is trimmed in tan upholstery and features a floor-mounted gear shifter, a Becker Europa stereo, an analog clock, and an under-dash air conditioning unit.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 38k miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The selling dealer tells us that the 3.2-liter M104 inline-six was sourced from a Mercedes-Benz E320 and installed under previous ownership along with a four-speed automatic transmission.
