42-Years-Owned 1972 BMW 3.0CS 4-Speed

This 1972 BMW 3.0CS is said to have been registered in California since new and acquired by the current owner in 1982. It is finished in Polaris Metallic over black leather and is powered by a 3.0-liter M30 inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 14″ light metal wheels, air conditioning, a Nardi steering wheel, and an Alpine CD stereo. This E9 is now offered on dealer consignment with a California title.

The car is finished in Polaris Metallic (60) and has received various paint work and blending over the years per the seller. Rust is noted in the rocker panels, and other finish flaws are pointed out in the gallery.

The 14″ light metal wheels wear polished hubcaps and are mounted with Dunlop tires. Stopping power is provided by discs at all four corners.

The cabin houses front bucket seats and contoured rear seats trimmed in black leather. Interior appointments include a heated rear window, air conditioning, and an Alpine CD stereo. The right door armrest is broken and blemishes on the dash can be seen in the gallery on Bring a Trailer.

The Nardi three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 35k miles.

The 3.0-liter M30 inline-six is equipped with dual carburetors. A strut tower brace spans the engine bay.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
