This 1954 Citroën 11B was modified between 2018 and 2023 with a custom tubular chassis and a 4.3-liter General Motors V6 linked with a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a narrowed Ford 9” rear axle. A Mustang II front suspension with disc brakes were added along with 16” steel wheels, rear ladder bars, QA1 adjustable coilovers, FiTech electronic fuel injection, an aluminum radiator, and a dual exhaust system. The car was repainted in black, and the interior features gray vinyl upholstery, a Vintage Air climate control system, a Lokar shifter, and Classic Instruments gauges. The modified Traction Avant was acquired by the current owner on BaT in November 2023, and it is now offered on consignment in California by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, with service records and a clean Montana title.
The unitary body is mounted to an underslung chassis constructed under previous ownership using 2×3” steel tubing. The car was refinished in black during the build, and exterior details include a chrome grille, a louvered hood, a pop-out windshield, coach front doors, and teardrop taillights. Close-up photos of the lenses and exterior condition are viewable in the gallery below.
Gray-finished 16” steel wheels wear domed hubcaps and are mounted with 5.50” Coker Classic tires up front and 6.00” Excelsior Stahl Sport rubber out back. A Heidts Mustang II-style front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering was installed, while the rear suspension features ladder bars and a Panhard bar with Heim joints. QA1 adjustable coilovers are fitted at all four corners. Braking is handled by a Wilwood master cylinder linked to front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features replacement front seats and a rear bench that have been reupholstered in perforated gray vinyl with black piping. The door panels are trimmed in gray cloth with vertical pleating, and contrasting gray carpets line the floors, which have been modified to accommodate the drivetrain as well as a Lokar shifter. A Vintage Air air conditioning system has been added, and the controls are located beside a central Jaeger clock. The fuel tank has been relocated to the trunk, which also houses a full-size spare wheel and tire.
Classic Instruments instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer with an inset tachometer, voltmeter, and oil pressure gauge as well as gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 4,900 miles, which is said to represent the distance added since completion of the build, and approximately 4,700 miles were added under current ownership. Total chassis mileage is unknown.
The 4.3-liter General Motors W-code V6 crate engine is equipped with FiTech electronic fuel injection, a Speedmaster ignition box, and an aluminum radiator with dual SPAL electric puller fans. The previous owner noted an oil leak at the oil pan drain plug.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a narrowed Ford 9” rear axle. The car is equipped with a custom dual exhaust system featuring three-into-one headers.
