1997 Land Rover Defender 90 300Tdi 5-Speed by TATC

This 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 is a left-hand-drive three-door wagon that was refurbished and modified for the current owner by TATC before it was imported to the US in 2023. Finished in metallic green over black leather and cloth ExMoor Trim upholstery, the truck is powered by a 2.5-liter 300Tdi inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Modifications include LED headlights and turn signals, Maypole driving lights, a front skid plate, a KBX grille and fender vents, rock sliders, an NAS-style rear bumper, heated front bucket seats, a touchscreen Bluetooth head unit, a rearview camera, and a Lode Lane steering wheel. Further equipment includes 16″ Boost alloy wheels, disc brakes, heavy-duty steering bars, inward-facing rear jump seats, air conditioning, and a center console with storage. This Defender 90 shows 168 miles since the build was completed, and it is now offered on dealer consignment in California with build invoices, build photos, a clean Carfax report, and an Alabama title.

The truck was finished in the current shade of metallic green during the build, and it was retrofitted with a KBX grille, headlight surrounds, and fender vents, as well as LED headlights and turn signals, Maypole driving lights, an NAS-style rear bumper, a heated windshield, an Optimill rearview camera, rock sliders, and a replacement front bumper with a bull bar. Zinc-plated Puma-style steel doors were installed, and additional exterior details include a black roof, alpine windows, windshield vents, checker-plate fender trim, Land Rover-branded mud flaps, and a rear-mounted spare with a TATC Defenders cover.

Gloss-black 16″ Boost alloy wheels are mounted with 285/75 General Grabber AT2 tires. The suspension, steering, and braking systems are said to have been overhauled during the build, and the truck is equipped with a Masai front skid plate and heavy-duty steering arms.

The cabin features heated ExMoor Trim front bucket seats trimmed in black leather with cloth inserts, and additional appointments include a center console with storage and cupholders as well as ExMoor Trim door panels, stainless-steel door entry guards, all-weather floor mats, a TATC center dashboard insert, a touchscreen Bluetooth head unit, air conditioning, and inward-facing rear jump seats.

A leather-wrapped Lode Lane three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 168 miles, which represents the distance traveled since the completion of the build.

The refurbished engine bay houses a 2.5-liter 300Tdi turbodiesel inline-four, which was balanced and retrofitted with a revised variable vane turbo and an upgraded intercooler during the build.

Power is routed to all four wheels through an R380 five-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a locking center differential. The truck has been fitted with stainless-steel exhaust components.

Photos of the truck during the build are viewable in the gallery below.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other reported damage.

The truck has not been inspected by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair or Air Resources Board, and it has not passed a California smog test.
