1991 Mercedes-Benz 300E 3.4 AMG 5-Speed

This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300E is a European-market example that is said to have been by AMG in Germany with a modified 3.4-liter M104 inline-six as well as revised bodywork, suspension, exhaust, and interior components. The car reportedly remained in Germany until it was imported to the US circa 2023. Finished in Black Pearl Metallic over black leather and patterned cloth upholstery, the car is equipped with 17″ AMG Monoblock alloy wheels, a dogleg five-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, fog lights, a power-operated sunroof, dual-zone climate control, walnut veneer trim, a retrofitted mph speedometer face, and a Blaupunkt Frankfurt stereo head unit. This 300E is now offered on dealer consignment in California with an owner’s manual, a spare km/h speedometer face, a clean Carfax report, and an Arizona title.

The car is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199), and with matching lower cladding, bumper trim, and AMG badging. Additional exterior details include a rear spoiler, a power-telescoping antenna, a single eccentric-sweep windshield wiper, a sunroof, Euro-specification headlights, and fog lights.

The 17” AMG Monoblock wheels are mounted with 235/45 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires that show 2023 production codes. The suspension is said to have been modified with AMG springs and dampers, and braking is handled by anti-lock discs at each corner.

The front bucket seats and individual rear seats are trimmed in black leather with patterned cloth insert upholstery that extends to the door panels. Walnut veneer trim accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels, and additional appointments include power windows, dual-zone climate control, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt Frankfurt RCM 82 DAB stereo head unit. A fire extinguisher is mounted below the driver’s seat.

The AMG steering wheel frames an AMG-branded speedometer, the face of which has been changed to an mph version, and the odometer shows 112k kilometers (~70k miles). Additional instrumentation includes an 8k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. A spare 280-km/h speedometer face is included in the sale.

The M104 inline-six was bored and stroked to 3.4 liters by AMG and had a claimed output of 276 horsepower and 243 ft-lb of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a dogleg five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. An AMG exhaust system is said to have been installed when the car was modified.
