This 1963 Porsche 356B coupe was reportedly parked in 1980 and stored in a California backyard until early 2002, when it underwent a three-year restoration. The car is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Ivory over black. Features include 15″ chrome wheels, vent windows, leather front bucket seats, a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, and a Nardi steering wheel. This 356B coupe is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, at no reserve with a California title.
This Karmann-built body came finished from the factory in Ivory and was repainted during the aforementioned restoration. Replacement floor panels and door bottoms were sourced from Restoration Design and installed at that time.
The chrome 15″ wheels are mounted with Falken Sincera tires measuring 185/60. The car was factory equipped with drum brakes at each corner, and a dual-circuit master cylinder has been installed.
The interior was redone during the restoration, including reupholstering the front bucket seats in black leather along with re-trimming the rear jump seats and door panels in leatherette. A Blaupunkt AM/FM radio is fitted in the body-color dash.
The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames green-letter VDO instrumentation that has been overhauled, including a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles.
The 1.6-liter flat-four features dual Zenith carburetors and was rebuilt during the restoration by John Weaver Engineering. A later-356B crankshaft and upgraded 912 connecting rods are said to have been installed at that time, while the oil pump cover was machined to accommodate a remote oil filter. The electrical system has been converted to 12-volts using a Pertronix module, and a Bosch ignition coil is installed.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
