1960 Citroen 2CV

This 1960 Citroën 2CV is a US-market example that is powered by a 425cc flat-twin linked to a four-speed manual transaxle. The car is finished in green with a tan soft top over plaid cloth upholstery and rides on dark green 15” steel wheels. Further equipment includes a push/pull shifter, Veglia instrumentation, and a single Solex carburetor. Acquired by the current owner in 2024, this ripple-bonnet 2CV is now offered by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, on consignment at no reserve with a California title listing it as a 1955 model.

Early variants of the 2CV had a roll-up cover for the cargo area, and a lockable steel trunk lid became available in 1958. This car is equipped with the latter, and the body has been refinished in green. Additional details include a tan roll-back soft top, a tubular front bumper, US-specification headlights, rear-hinged front doors, and flip-up front windows. Chipped paint and pitting on the exterior brightwork can be viewed in the image gallery below. The bulk of the photos were taken in October 2025.

The 15” steel wheels are finished in dark green and wrapped in 125-series Firestone Radial Tempa Spare tires that are marked “temporary use only.” The car is equipped with inertia dampers, and braking is handled by hydraulic drums that are inboard-mounted up front.

The removable front seats and rear bench are trimmed in green plaid cloth. The doors wear gray panels, and black rubber mats line the floors. Corrosion on the interior hardware can be viewed in the gallery.

A two-spoke steering wheel is paired with a push/pull shifter. Instrumentation consists of a Veglia 100-km/h speedometer and ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 77k kilometers (~48k miles).

The air-cooled 425cc flat-twin breathes through a single Solex downdraft carburetor and sends power to the front wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The cooling fan guard is missing.

Starting in 1960, Citroën vehicles destined for the West Coast often received an additional plaque with the sequence “AC” followed by a two-digit model year identifier. This car bears one of those tags identifying it as a 1960 example and has an engine identification plate stamped with the serial number 02376616, which is consistent with a 1960 2CV AZ. The vehicle is titled as a 1955 model using the sequence AZBN25089 from the identification plate shown above as the VIN. The California title carries a “Title Only” notation.
