1960 Buick Invicta Convertible

This 1960 Buick Invicta is one of 5,236 convertible examples produced for the model year, and it was reportedly sold new in California. It underwent a refurbishment that was completed in 2015 before it was purchased by the current owner in 2020. The car is finished in blue over color-coordinated upholstery, and power comes from a 401ci Nailhead V8 paired with a Turbine Drive two-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes power steering, power-assisted finned drum brakes, slanted tail fins, a power-operated white soft top, power windows, a power-adjustable front bench, and a retro-style radio. This Series 4600 Invicta is now offered on dealer consignment with factory literature, a Wonderbar AM radio, spare parts, refurbishment photos, and a clean California title.

Delivered from the factory in Chalet Blue (H), the car was repainted in its factory color during the 2015 refurbishment. Equipment includes chrome bumpers and trim, quad headlights, fender-mounted Invicta badges and Ventiports, a retractable antenna, a wraparound windshield, a power-operated white soft top, ribbed lower-body trim, and slanted tail fins. A blue top boot is included in the sale. Imperfections in the finish can be seen in the gallery.

Black-painted steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps with painted accents, and they are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. A full-size spare tire is stowed under a houndstooth cover in the trunk. The Invicta rode on a 123″ wheelbase and featured a coil-sprung independent front suspension as well as a live rear axle with coil springs at all four corners. The car is equipped with power steering and power-assisted four-wheel finned drum brakes.

The cabin features front and rear benches that were reupholstered in white and blue vinyl that the selling dealer notes was sourced from SMS Auto Fabrics during the refurbishment. Blue carpets line the floors, and equipment includes power windows, a power-adjustable front bench, a heater and defroster, an aftermarket front armrest with cupholders, and front lap belts. A retro-style radio is mounted in the dash, and a Wonderbar AM radio is included in the sale.

The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a Mirromagic instrument panel housing a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, a trip mileage indicator, a fuel-level gauge, and an analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles.

The 401ci Nailhead V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 325 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a two-speed Turbine Drive automatic transmission.
