1955 Mercedes-Benz 190SL

This 1955 Mercedes-Benz 190SL was restored in the late 2000s and subsequently won best of show in the 2009 Concours 190SL Group Convention at Yellowstone Park in Wyoming as well as first place at the 2014 Antique Automobile Club of America National Spring Meet in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is powered by a 1.9-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in silver over red leather. Equipment includes a black soft top, 13″ steel wheels with body-color hubcaps, and lap belts. This 190SL is now offered in California on dealer consignment with a copy of the data card, manufacturer’s literature, prior awards, and a Virginia title.

Finished from the factory in Graphite Gray, the car was repainted silver in 2007. A replacement black soft top and bumpers were installed at that time, and records from the work are provided in the gallery.

Steel 13″ wheels wear chrome trim rings and hubcaps with body-color accents. The car is equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension, rear swing axles with coil springs, and power-assisted drum brakes.

The cabin features low-back bucket seats upholstered in red leather as well as matching door panels and dashboard trim. Amenities include lap belts, an analog clock, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 210-km/h speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 946 kilometers (~588 miles). Total mileage is unknown.

The 1.9-liter M121 inline-four was factory rated at 104 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque, and it was rebuilt by Metric Motors in 2007. An electric fuel pump was added in 2014.

Engine stamping 3501136 is viewable above, and a corresponding number is listed on the copy of the data card.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission, which was also rebuilt during the restoration.

A copy of the data card is viewable above.

The Virginia title is listed as a substitute.
