This 1990 BMW K1 was purchased new in Oregon and exported to Singapore, where it was fitted with metric gauges, and it returned to the US in 2011 and was sold on BaT in November 2020. Finished in Marrakesh Red with yellow graphics, the bike is powered by a liquid-cooled 987cc DOHC inline-four linked to a five-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft. Equipment includes yellow-finished 17″ front and 18″ rear alloy wheels, black and yellow two-up seating, a Paralever single-sided swingarm, triple anti-lock disc brakes, Bosch Motronic electronic fuel injection, a Luftmeister exhaust system, and both center and side stands. This K1 is offered at no reserve on dealer consignment by WOB Cars, a BaT Local Partner, with a California title.
The aerodynamic bodywork is finished in Marrakesh Red (658) with yellow graphics, and the black and yellow two-up seating has a removable rear cowl. Other features include a body-color front fender, an integrated windscreen, locking storage compartments, folding passenger foot pegs, and both center and side stands. The covers for the tail-section storage compartments were repainted under prior ownership.
Yellow-finished 17″ front and 18″ rear three-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Road 3 tires produced in 2014. Suspension consists of a Marzocchi telescopic fork as well as a single-sided Paralever swingarm with a preload-adjustable Boge monoshock. Anti-lock braking is provided by dual 305mm discs up front and a same-size single-disc setup at the rear.
The black-finished handlebar is secured beneath a console housing the ignition switch. MotoMeter instrumentation ahead includes a 280-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with an 8,500-rpm redline, and a digital clock. Fuel-level and coolant-temperature gauges are located atop the fairing’s inner side panels along with a locking storage compartment and auxiliary switchgear. The six-digit odometer shows 37k kilometers (~23k miles) and does not work. The trip meter shows 111 kilometers (~69 miles), said to represent the mileage ridden under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The liquid-cooled 987cc DOHC inline-four features Bosch Motronic electronic fuel injection, four valves per cylinder, and a Luftmeister dual-muffler exhaust system. It was rated at 95 horsepower and 73 lb-ft of torque when new.
Power is transferred to the rear wheel through a dry clutch, a close-ratio five-speed transmission, and an enclosed driveshaft.
