This 1956 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider underwent an engine rebuild as well as additional mechanical and cosmetic work as part of a 2018 refurbishment completed by Top of the Hill in Livermore, California, totaling over $94k. Finished in white with a black convertible top over red upholstery, the car is powered by a 1,290cc inline-four equipped with a Weber downdraft carburetor and a stainless-steel exhaust system. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission, and further equipment includes 15″ Fergat-style steel wheels, retrofitted front disc brakes, and Simpson latch-and-link belts. Acquired by the current owner in 2025, this 750 D Giulietta Spider is now offered on dealer consignment by Wob, a BaT Local Partner, with refurbishment records and a Hawaii title.
The Pininfarina-styled bodywork is finished in white and wears a black convertible top. A tripartite grille, fintail-style quarter panels, and wraparound bumpers are further details. The exterior brightwork was refinished in 2018.
The 15″ Fergat-style steel wheels feature bright hubcaps and are mounted with 155-width Michelin tires. Work in 2018 involved powder-coating various suspension components and retrofitting front disc brakes in addition to replacing the brake master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders, and lines.
The seats have been re-trimmed in red upholstery and are accompanied by a contrasting rear drape and door panels. The dashboard was refinished as part of the refurbishment, and the floors are lined with red carpets. Further interior appointments include a heater, crank windows, and Simpson latch-and-link belts.
The steering wheel frames Veglia instrumentation that consists of a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset oil-pressure gauge flanked by a 120-mph speedometer and a combination gauge. The steering wheel and gauges were refurbished in 2018. The five-digit odometer shows 96k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 1,290cc twin-cam inline-four breathes through a retrofitted Weber downdraft carburetor. The 2018 engine rebuild involved the following:
- Magnafluxing and bead-blasting the block
- Machining the block and head
- Polishing the camshafts
- Repairing the intake and exhaust manifolds
- Balancing the rotating assembly
- Re-coring the radiator
- Replacing the starter and generator
- Overhauling the water and fuel pumps
- Installing a stainless-steel exhaust system
- Refinishing the engine bay
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The flywheel was resurfaced, the clutch assembly was replaced, and the driveshaft was rebuilt as part of the project. A protective coating was also applied to the underside in the course of the refurbishment.
The current Hawaii title carries a “mileage exceeds the mechanical limits” notation.
