This 1963 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III is a left-hand-drive saloon that was purchased by the current owner in 1982. The car is finished in silver with blue pinstriping over blue leather upholstery, and power comes from a 6.2-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15” wheels with bright covers and whitewall tires as well as Lucas driving lamps, electric windows, bi-level air conditioning, a Blaupunkt cassette player, wood interior trim, and folding rear tray tables. This Silver Cloud is now offered on dealer consignment with a car cover and a California title that lists the vehicle’s model year as 1965.
The Silver Cloud III was introduced at the Paris motor show in October 1962 and featured a revised interior, larger SU carburetors, and updated exterior styling that incorporated quadruple headlamps. A reported 2,044 examples were built through the end of production in 1966. This example is finished in silver with blue pinstriping and features a polished radiator surround and bumpers, a Spirit of Ecstasy ornament, Lucas front driving lamps, and a retractable antenna. Cosmetic imperfections are pictured in the gallery below.
Steel 15″ wheels wear bright covers with silver-painted accents and blue pinstriping. They are mounted with L78–15 Commander whitewall bias-ply tires. The car is equipped with power steering, while suspension incorporates independent coil springs at the front and semi-elliptic springs at the rear. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners.
The left-hand-drive cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in blue leather, along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Wood trim accents the dashboard, door caps, and folding rear tray tables. Additional amenities include a locking glovebox, a Blaupunkt cassette player, electric windows, fold-down armrests, lap belts, bright doorsill plates, and rubber floor mats. Cracks in the upholstery can be seen in the photo gallery.
The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles.
The overhead-valve 6.2-liter V8 sits beneath a centrally hinged hood, and it features aluminum construction as well as dual SU carburetors.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission that Rolls-Royce sourced under license from General Motors.
