This 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 is one of approximately 500 examples built and was delivered in July 1972 through Charles Pozzi in Paris, France. The car was relocated to Switzerland in 1984 and was purchased by a German owner in 2005. It was imported to the US in 2009 and received over $40k in service since 2022 by Patrick Ottis of Berkeley, California, and Taormina Imports of San Carlos, California. The car is powered by a 4.4-liter quad-cam V12 that is flanked by six Weber carburetors and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It is finished in Blu Dino Metallizzato over Pelle Beige leather upholstery, and equipment includes a quad-exit exhaust system, four-wheel independent suspension, power-assisted steering, ventilated disc brakes, 15″ five-spoke Cromodora wheels with three-eared knockoffs, pop-up headlights, front bucket seats, individual rear seats, a rear center armrest, a Blaupunkt radio, and air conditioning. This 365 GTC/4 is now offered on dealer consignment with a Ferrari Classiche red book, service records dating back to 2005, a Marcel Massini report, and a clean California title.
The 365 GTC/4 entered production in late 1971 and was assembled on the same line as the GTB/4 Daytona. The body was designed and manufactured by Carrozzeria Pininfarina utilizing steel and aluminum panels as well as a fiberglass firewall and floor pans. Delivered new in Blu Dino Metallizzato, the car is said to have been repainted during work performed by Lukas Hüni AG in Zürich between 2005 and 2006. Exterior equipment includes pop-up headlights, a black tail panel, a retractable antenna, side marker lamps, a driver-side mirror, grille-mounted fog lamps, and quad exhaust outlets.
The 15″ five-spoke Cromodora wheels feature three-eared knockoffs and are mounted with 215/70 Michelin XWX tires. A matching spare wheel is mounted beneath the trunk floor. The 365 GTC/4 featured a four-wheel independent suspension, and power-assisted steering and four-wheel disc brakes were also standard equipment. The brake calipers were rebuilt by Patrick Ottis in 2022, with the system bled and the pads replaced at that time. Ridetech shocks and Hyperco springs were installed in 2023.
The 2+2 cabin features front bucket seats that left the factory covered in Pelle Bianca leather and have been retrimmed in beige. Additional equipment includes gray “mouse-fur” dash upholstery, fold-down rear seatbacks, power windows, a Blaupunkt radio, and air conditioning. The seat gears were adjusted in 2022, and the driver’s seat lower cushion were replaced in 2023.
The leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel frames Veglia Borletti instrumentation including a 300-km/h speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges monitoring oil pressure and coolant temperature. A set of auxiliary gauges is mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 61k kilometers (~38k miles), a few of which were added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The 4.4-liter Tipo F101 AC 000 V12 features an aluminum block with cast iron sleeves as well as aluminum cylinder heads with dual overhead camshafts and two valves per cylinder. Induction is from six twin-choke Weber carburetors positioned on the outer sides of the cylinder banks to allow for a lower hood line, and engine output was rated at 320 horsepower and 318 lb-ft of torque. Rebuilds of the water pump and distributor were carried out in 2022, and the air conditioning compressor and spark plug wires were replaced at that time. Work in 2023 included replacing the oil pan gasket, oil cooler lines, battery, and carburetor jet nozzles in addition to installing MSD ignition and refurbishing the starter and alternator.
Power is sent to the rear wheels by a five-speed manual transmission, a torque tube, and a limited-slip differential. Straight pipes from the header collectors to the rear mufflers were fabricated and installed in 2023.
The car completed Ferrari Classiche certification in 2008. The Ferrari Classiche scheda tecnica certificazione lists the original colors as well as the initial delivery location of the car. Additional pages of the red book are shown in the photo gallery below along with the Marcel Massini report and service records dating back to 2005.
The data plate above lists a chassis number of F101AC10016063, and the VIN on the current California title is listed as F101AC100016063.
