This Porsche 356 Speedster replica was reportedly built by Vintage Speedsters, and it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024. Power comes from a replacement air-cooled 1,915cc flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, and the car is finished in black over red vinyl. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, chrome-finished 15″ wheels, front disc brakes, headlight grilles, a single-grille decklid, a Nardi steering wheel, and dual Weber carburetors. This Speedster replica is now offered by the selling dealer with a black top boot, removable side curtains, and a clean California title that lists the vehicle as a 1972 Volkswagen.
The fiberglass bodywork is finished in black and features a black convertible soft top with a matching boot and side curtains. Additional details include body-color bumpers with chrome accents as well as a left-side mirror, headlight grilles, a single decklid grille, teardrop taillights, a reproduction Reutter badge on the right fender, and Speedster, Porsche, and 1600 Super badging.
Chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels wear matching hubcaps with full-color Porsche-crest centers and are mounted with 165/80 Nexen SB-802 tires. Stopping is provided by front discs and rear drums.
The fixed-back bucket seats are upholstered in red vinyl and complemented by a color-coordinated dash pad that was dyed red under current ownership. Woven Coco floor mats line the footwells, and additional appointments include door map pockets, a wooden shift knob, a height-adjustable rearview mirror, a passenger grab handle, and a gold-finished Porsche dashboard badge.
The Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a central tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline as well as a 130-mph speedometer and gauges for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles.
The air-cooled 1,915cc flat-four was installed under previous ownership and breathes through dual Weber carburetors with chrome air-cleaner housings. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle with a 3.88:1 ring and pinion.
The chassis stamping shown above is consistent with a 1972 Volkswagen Beetle.
