That is right; we are most pleased to announce that yesterday a lucky buyer purchased the Messerschmitt KR175 project car from 1956 at a price of $13,000 (plus fees)! The Messerschmitt has been a work in progress since before it was first sold on Bring A Trailer in the latter half of 2013. The current owner had the car repainted from white to metallic silver and also performed some bodywork and slapped three new whitewall tires on it, but there is still a substantial amount of work to be done before it can hit the streets. The sale included a fairly comprehensive “to-do” list, so the new owner has a pretty decent map of the progress that needs to be undertaken, and the deal included a rebuilt engine as well as many spare or uninstalled parts. Covered with those were the rear drive unit, the plexiglass hardtop hinged canopy, and the convertible cloth roofs. A tandem two-seater this sale only included one seat, but the interior had been repainted, and an original gauge was already installed in the instrument panel. Only 15,000 to 20,000 (reports vary) of the KR175 were produced between 1953 and 1955. Making this 1956 model is an extremely late model year production, so its rarity is even more alluring. We look forward to seeing the project progress and hope to look at that little Messerschmitt making moves out on the roadways soon!
