The Microcar for Four From Munich – 1958 BMW 600 Coming to Auction Next Week!

Feeling isolated and alone in your BMW Isetta 300? Well now is your chance to be lonely no more as we are selling the Isetta for four next week! Soon after BMW licensed the Isetta from Iso in 1955, they quickly recognized the publics desire for a slightly larger version of the fuel-sipping small car and began development to bolster their booming sales and vehicle roster further. This version, a 1958 model year, underwent a full mechanical restoration at Theo’s Microcar a few years ago. The engine – an air-cooled 582cc flat-twin – is a transplant to this body, but runs and performs actively despite the occasional puffs of white smoke when hot. The transmission, a four-speed unit with reverse, also went into the operating room at Theo’s Microcar as did the harmonic dampener. During the rebuilding the odometer was reset to zero and now displays around 1,250 miles. The present owner accrued about four hundred of those miles. Finished in a lovely red and white color combination the 600 sports a two-tone vinyl interior that matches the exterior paintwork. An oil change was done in preparation of the sale, and the brakes were adjusted. With a clean California title and plenty of documentation showing recent mechanical repairs and replacement parts, this 600 is a supreme piece of post-war European motoring.
