Soft-window Porsche Targa Coming to Auction Next Week!

Porsche’s Targa variants have always been fashionable for their unique styling and, in some years, the only way to get an open-air experience in a 911. However, the fixed glass rear window was once only an option at best. In lieu of glass, the first Targas came equipped with a soft-vinyl and plastic window that was able to be removed entirely or used in three other fashions to create slightly different driving variations.

Soon to be auctioned is a 1967 Porsche 912 Targa complete with the original soft-top window. A pretty heavily optioned example, this 912 comes in the unique Golden Green color and has the five-gauge instrument cluster, plus a wooden steering wheel. This Porsche Certificate of Authenticity (COA) verified numbers matching 912 was also optioned with the 5-speed manual transmission. Sixty-seven thousand miles currently sit on the odometer but this is likely due to the rollover, and the actual mileage is unknown. The only exterior modification is the addition of 14” Fuchs wheels installed by the current owner to replace the original chrome wheels. First sold in the Midwest, this 912 presents no rust spotting and will be marketed next week with the COA, all of the accessories, any invoicing and records, and the clean California title. Less than 600 Targas were manufactured for the United States in 1967, making this near mint-kept example a scarce opportunity to behold – do not wait on this one!
