This Monark Super Deluxe is a 26″ bicycle that has been fitted with an early 1960s TAS 50cc two-stroke single mated to a single-speed manual transmission. The bike is finished in tri-tone yellow with chrome accents and features an 18-1/2″ frame, a sprung girder fork, coaster brake hubs, valanced fenders, an aluminum headstock shroud, handlebar and front-fender headlights, a horn tank, a black vinyl seat, a rear luggage rack, and a cast aluminum rear reflector housing with an integrated bumper. This Monark is now offered by the selling dealer in California with a Weiss wheel lock and a bill of sale.
The bike is finished in tri-tone yellow with silver stripes and chrome accents. Features include a horn tank with Protecto-Gard rails, an Air Wing aluminum headstock shroud with a Monark badge, and a black vinyl double-sprung Lobdell Emery seat with a Safety-Gard saddle rail. The valanced front fender carries a Silver Wing crest and a Strato-Liner “train light” headlight with a Road Focus beam and red and green safety side lenses.
The body-color rear luggage rack with a chrome “cheese grater” grille has been fitted with a canister-type fuel tank, and the valanced rear fender carries a Kromegard cast-aluminum rear reflector housing with a replacement Stimsonite lens and an integrated bumper. Additional equipment includes a center stand and reflector pedals with replacement lenses.
Chrome 26″ rims are laced to New Departure front and Velosteel rear stacked-disc coaster brake hubs and mounted with white block-tread tires. The bike’s sole suspension consists of a girder fork with nickel-plated dual springs and rubber cushions.
The chrome U-shaped handlebar is equipped with red in-period replacement grips and nickel-plated brake, clutch, throttle, and compression-release levers as well as a 50-mph Stewart-Warner Golden Meteor speedometer and an ivory Delta headlight with chrome Art Deco side trim and nickel-plated mounting brackets. The five-digit odometer shows 800 miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 50cc two-stroke TAS single is pedal started and was rated at three horsepower when new. It breathes through a TK Carburettor and a chrome downswept exhaust pipe leading to a black canister-style muffler that is mounted low on the frame between the pedals.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a manual clutch, a single–speed transmission, and an engine-driven chain on the left. A standard bicycle pedal and sprocket arrangement is located on the right.
The bike does not have a title or registration and is being sold on a bill of sale only.
