Nitro-Powered Allis-Chalmers 416 Lawn Tractor Dragster

This Allis-Chalmers 416 Lawn Tractor was modified in the style of a dragster under prior ownership and fitted with the chassis and running gear from a Yamaha Warrior ATV. The vehicle is finished in an orange and white livery with racing-themed graphics, and power is from a nitromethane-fueled 348cc four-stroke single paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a chain drive. Additional equipment includes a wheelie bar, a rear wing, a faux top-fuel style air intake scoop, chrome wheels, rear Mickey Thompson drag slicks, burnout sprayers, a non-functional drag chute, independent front suspension, disc brakes, a black vinyl driver’s seat, a Pro-Werks steering yoke, and a tethered kill switch. This modified Allis-Chalmers 416 was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024 and is now offered at no reserve in Thousand Oaks, California, with a bill of sale.

The body is finished in orange with racing-themed decals and #416 on the aluminum rear wing, while the engine cover is white with skull graphics and Allis-Chalmers branding. Details include a white grille, painted headlights, a non-functional decorative front tank, quad side-exit exhaust outlets, running boards, a faux drag chute, and a wheelie bar. A master cut-off switch is located on the left side of the engine cover.

Chrome-finished 10″ steel wheels are mounted with 100/90 Kenda K-418 front tires and Mickey Thompson 19.0/80 rear drag slicks. Stopping power is from front disc brakes with drilled rotors along with a single disc out back, and a line lock control on the shifter is used for locking the brakes during burnouts. The vehicle is equipped with an independent front suspension system that incorporates adjustable coilover shocks as well as tubular upper and lower control arms.

The cockpit is outfitted with a padded seat upholstered in black vinyl, and controls consist of a clutch pedal, a Hurst shifter, a Moon accelerator pedal, a brake lever, and a forward-reverse lever. Dash-mounted controls include a push-button for the starter as well as hooded toggle switches for the fuel valve and ignition power. Another toggle switch activates the burnout sprayers, which apply fluid to the rear tires from a tank housed under the seat.

The Pro-Werks steering yoke features furrowed grips and sits ahead of a Marshall Instruments liquid silicone-filled fuel pressure gauge. The dragster is not equipped with an odometer or an hour meter, therefore total miles and operating hours are unknown.

The air-cooled Yamaha 348cc four-stroke single was modified under prior ownership to use nitromethane fuel and is equipped with MSD ignition, an aluminum fuel tank, braided fuel lines, and a fiberglass-wrapped exhaust system. The top-fuel style air intake scoop is decorative and features butterflies that open when the accelerator pedal is pressed.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a chain drive. Additional photos of the running gear can be viewed in the gallery below.
