This 1966 Ford Mustang fastback was refurbished and modified under current ownership circa 2012 by SC Restoration of Sun Valley, California, and was previously listed on BaT in December 2020. Power is provided by a 347ci V8 linked with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a FAB9 rear axle, and the car rides on adjustable coilover suspension with a Total Control Products rack-and-pinion steering system and 18″ staggered-width wheels fitted over drilled and slotted four-corner Wilwood disc brakes. It is finished in metallic gray over black leather and Alcantara upholstery, and further equipment includes air conditioning, a push-button starter, a Hurst shifter, power-operated windows, Classic Instruments gauges, an MSD Atomic EFI system and ignition components, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and Ford Racing aluminum cylinder heads. This Mustang is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with a 2012 build invoice and a clean California title.
During the 2012 refresh, the body was fitted with a custom hood scoop, tail panel and rear spoiler, a C-pillar-mounted fuel filler system, fabricated side scoops, and intake cowl vents, and filled badging holes before repainting the car in metallic gray. The silver and red stripes were added recently and additional details include a billet grille, bullet-style mirrors, body-color bumpers, and bright window moldings.
Staggered-width 18″ wheels feature black centers and polished lips, and they are wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact DW tires measuring 225/40 up front and 275/35 out back. The car rides on a coilover suspension and features a rack-and-pinion steering system from Total Control Products along with front strut tower and underbody reinforcements. Braking is handled by Wilwood six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers over drilled and slotted rotors.
The bolstered front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in black leather upholstery with Alcantara inserts and red stitching. The headliner, dashboard, and center console are also trimmed in Alcantara, and amenities include air conditioning, an in-dash storage compartment, a Hurst shifter, and a custom audio system with Focal speakers and JL Audio subwoofers.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel is mounted to an Ididit tiling column and frames Classic Instruments gauges including a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and readouts for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery voltage. The five-digit odometer shows 470 miles, all of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The Ford Racing 347ci V8 was installed during the refurbishment and fitted with an MSD Atomic EFI system and ignition components, a March Performance billet serpentine drive system, an Edelbrock intake manifold, long-tube exhaust headers, and Ford Racing aluminum cylinder heads. A Fluidyne aluminum radiator with an electric cooling fan has been fitted.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. The rear end of the car has been tubbed and features a FAB9 9″-style rear axle from Chris Alston’s Chassisworks. A custom side-exit dual exhaust system with MagnaFlow mufflers has been fitted.
