This five-speed Ferrari transaxle was removed from a 275 GTB before it was acquired by the seller in 2019. The unit features cast aluminum construction as well as a limited-slip differential, a dog-leg “H” shift pattern with five-forward gears and reverse, output flanges, mounting bushings, and a finned gear fluid sump. This 275 GTB transaxle is now offered in Thousand Oaks, California.
The 275 GTB was the first road-going production Ferrari to use a transaxle after it was successfully implemented in their 250 Testa Rossa competition car produced from 1957 to 1961. The all synchromesh, five-speed manual transaxle is encapsulated within a cast aluminum case and features a limited-slip differential, a finned gear fluid sump, a dog-leg shift pattern, and five forward gears plus reverse.
Output flanges and transmission bushings are retained along with assorted hardware.
The gearbox stamping reads 787/1 R 9×31. According to the selling dealer, the transaxle was removed from a four-cam GTB/4 prior to their acquisition and is intended to be installed in a twin-cam GTB. Images showing additional stamping and casting sequences are provided in the gallery.
