This 1987 Harley-Davidson Softail Custom was purchased new by ex-Journey front man Steve Perry and has been ridden 557 miles. The bike is powered by an 82ci Evolution V-twin paired with a five-speed gearbox and is finished in black with red and gold scrollwork. Equipment includes a Le Pera seat, a padded chrome backrest, forward foot controls, a bobbed rear fender, a chrome luggage rack, disc brakes, an electronic ignition module, an electric starter, a Screamin’ Eagle air cleaner cover, and a chrome dual exhaust system with slash-cut mufflers. The carburetor was cleaned in preparation for the sale. This FXSTC was acquired by its current owner in 2016 and is now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with a previous title in the name of Steve Perry and a clean California title.
The bike is finished in Vivid Black with hand-applied red pinstriping and red and gold scroll graphics over a black steel tube frame. Features include a 5.2-gallon Fat Bob fuel tank, a bobbed rear fender, a black vinyl Le Pera Daytona two-up seat, and a padded chrome backrest as well as a chrome oil tank, rear fender supports, and luggage rack. Chrome wire-spoke wheels measuring 21″ up front and 16″ at the rear are mounted with Avon Roadrunner AM20 and AM21 tires, respectively. Suspension is handled by a Showa telescopic fork as well as a triangulated swingarm connected to a pair of gas-filled shocks arranged horizontally beneath the transmission. Braking is provided by a four-piston caliper over an 11.5″ disc at both ends.
A chrome handlebar clamped by pullback risers is equipped with dual billet mirrors and teardrop turn signals. A 120-mph speedometer is housed in the chrome tank–top console along with a bank of indicator lamps and the ignition switch. The five-digit odometer indicates 557 miles.
The 82ci Evolution V-twin is finished in wrinkle black with chrome derby, rocker box, camshaft gear, outer primary, and transmission covers. Equipment includes a 38mm butterfly carburetor with an accelerator pump as well as a V-Fire III electronic ignition module, an electric starter, a Screamin’ Eagle air cleaner cover, and an aftermarket chrome dual exhaust system with slash-cut mufflers. The carburetor was cleaned in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through an enclosed double-row primary chain, a five-speed gearbox, and a Kevlar-reinforced Gates drive belt with a chrome guard.
