This 1946 Dodge Business Coupe was modified under prior ownership with a chopped roof and decked body as well as an air suspension system. Power is provided by a 305ci Chevrolet V8 linked to a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a Ford rear end. The interior features brown leather upholstery, squareweave carpets, a center console, and Equus supplementary gauges. Additional details include matte gray paint, a custom grille, fender skirts, Unity spotlights, front disc brakes, and smoothie-style 16” wheels wrapped in whitewall tires. Work performed since the current owner’s acquisition in 2021 has involved installing a JEGS electric brake booster and replacing the engine oil, coolant, and transmission fluid. This custom Dodge is now offered on dealer consignment in California with an Ohio title.
The steel body was decked, the rocker panels were smoothed, and the roof was chopped approximately 3” at the front and 4” at the rear before the car was painted in matte gray. A custom-fabricated grille and fender skirts have been added, and other details include headlight visors, Unity spotlights, narrowed 1949 Chevrolet-style bumpers, and blue-dot taillights.
Smoothie-style 16” wheels are finished in satin black and wear polished bullet hubcaps. Coker whitewall tires have been installed. The frame has been notched, Chevrolet S-10 front rails have been grafted to the frame, and Chassis Engineering 3” de-arched leaf springs have been relocated inside the rails. An Air Lift Performance suspension system has been installed, and a JEGS electric brake booster provides assistance to the front discs and rear drums.
The bench seat is trimmed in brown leather with tuck-and-roll inserts and textured accents, and color-coordinated upholstery covers the custom center console and door panels. Bound squareweave carpets line the floors, and bright trim accents the full width of the painted dashboard. The clock face is cracked.
The three-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and frames a 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges, while Equus gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure are mounted below the dash. The five-digit odometer on this Custom 1946 Dodge Business Coupe shows 78k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The trunk is trimmed to complement the cabin.
The 305ci Chevrolet V8 is equipped with an HEI distributor as well as an Edelbrock carburetor and chrome air cleaner lid. A fabricated firewall was also installed during the build. The engine oil and coolant were replaced in May 2024.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a rear end reportedly sourced from a Ford Explorer. The transmission fluid was replaced in May 2024.
The Ohio title carries a Non-actual Mileage brand.
