This Beck 550 Spyder was initially assembled in 1985 and reportedly used to attend car shows and compete in amateur racing events. The car was acquired from an estate sale as an unfinished project in 2019 by the prior owner, who oversaw the recommissioning of the vehicle and a repaint in blue before selling the car on BaT in April 2024. Since that time, the interior was fitted with low-back bucket seats, a center console, carpets, and a wood-rimmed Lecarra steering wheel. Power comes from an air-cooled 1,967cc flat-four fitted with dual Weber 44 IDF carburetors and linked to a four-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes 15″ aluminum wheels, a cantilever-style rear suspension, Wilwood calipers, drilled brake rotors, CNC Brakes aluminum pedal assemblies, a cable shifter, and a battery cut-off switch. This Beck 550 Spyder is offered in California with initial build documents, service and refurbishment records, and a clean Utah title in the seller’s name listing the car as a 1956 Porsche Replica Elite.
The 15″ aluminum wheels were installed by the selling dealer and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classics tires. The car is equipped with a Volkswagen-sourced ball joint axle beam up front, while a custom-fabricated cantilever-style rear suspension has been fitted at the rear. Braking is handled by Wilwood calipers over drilled rotors at all four corners.
The low-back bucket seats are upholstered in brown leather and were installed in preparation for the sale, along with the cockpit collar, carpeting, door panels, and center console. Interior equipment includes CNC Brakes aluminum pedal assemblies, a battery cut-off switch, and a cable shifter.
The wood-rimmed Lecarra steering wheel fronts a central tachometer, a 200-km/h speedometer, and a combination gauge for engine temperature and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 18k kilometers (~11k miles).
The mid-mounted air-cooled 1,967cc flat-four is equipped with dual Weber 44 IDF carburetors, an auxiliary air cleaner, and an electric fuel pump. Service records and build notes are included in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle fitted with a CNC Brakes hydraulic slave cylinder adapter and a ZF limited-slip differential sourced from Gene Berg Enterprises.
Body number 042 shown above matches the VIN listed on the current Utah title, which describes the car as a 1956 Porsche Replica Elite.
