This 1964 Mercedes-Benz 220SE coupe was modified over 20 years ago with a 6.3-liter M100 V8 and a four-speed automatic transmission and was previously sold on BaT in August 2019. The car is finished in Burgundy Red with a Light Beige roof and is equipped with 14″ Bundt wheels, a Becker stereo, Euro headlights, and driving lamps. It was acquired by the owner in 2022 and the interior was reupholstered in burgundy in 2024. This W111 coupe is now offered on dealer consignment with owner’s manuals, spare parts, and a California title.
The car was finished from the factory in Burgundy Red (573) with a Light Beige (181) roof and was repainted under previous ownership. Portions of the brightwork have been re-plated and rubber seals for the doors, headlights, and taillights replaced. A 6.3 badge has been added to the trunk lid and the car is equipped with a manually-operated sunroof.
The 14″ Bundt wheels were wrapped in Pirelli Cinturato tires in 2018, at which time the rear brake pads and hoses were replaced. The front suspension was reportedly modified at the time of the engine installation.
The interior was reupholstered in January 2024, including re-trimming the low-back front bucket seats, dash, and rear bench in burgundy leather. The wood trim was refinished and the carpets, package tray, and floor mats were replaced. The Becker Grand Prix radio was rebuilt and modified with Bluetooth connectivity in 2018.
The two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 210-km/h speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 29k kilometers (~18k miles), and total mileage is unknown. The speedometer is not accurate.
The 6.3-liter M100 V8 was installed approximately 23 years ago. The starter and engine mounts were replaced in 2018.
A four-speed automatic transmission has been installed in place of the factory manual transmission. The rear end is said to be from a 4.5L model.
