This 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa was initially sold in New York, moved to California in 2002, and remained registered in the state through the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2025. Now showing 40k miles, the car is finished in black over gray leather, and it is powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, 17″ two-piece Targa wheels, a power-operated glass roof panel, a deployable rear spoiler, power-adjustable front sport seats, air conditioning, a carbon-fiber-trimmed steering wheel, carbon-fiber shifter and handbrake levers, and a Kenwood stereo linked to a custom sound system. This 993 Targa is offered by the selling dealer with a build sheet, an owner’s manual, service records, a car cover, a tool kit, a tire inflation kit, a removed factory head unit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The 993 Targa was based on the convertible bodyshell and featured a revised roof with a lifting and sliding glass center section as opposed to the removable top found on earlier 911 Targa models. This example is finished in Black (L741) and features fog lights, headlight washers, power-adjustable mirrors, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and a “basket handle” fixed rear spoiler with an integrated third brake light.
Targa-specific two-piece 17″ Speedline wheels are mounted with older Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Braking is handled by black Porsche-branded calipers over a cross-drilled rotor at each corner.
The power-adjustable front sport seats and folding individual rear seats were specified from the factory in Savannah Beige, and were reupholstered in gray leather under prior ownership. Appointments include air conditioning, cruise control, carbon-fiber levers for the shifter and parking brake, power windows, and a Kenwood stereo linked to an aftermarket sound system featuring JL Audio speakers.
The leather- and carbon-fiber-trimmed steering wheel frames silver-dial VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, a 180-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer on this 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa shows 40k miles.
The air-cooled 3.6L M64 flat-six was factory rated at 282 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque and features a VarioRam intake system.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle. A limited-slip differential was optioned from the factory.
The Carfax report is free of accidents and other reported damage.
