3.0L-Powered 1975 Ferrari Dino 208 GT4

This 1975 Ferrari Dino 208 GT4 is one of 840 produced through 1980. It was built for the Italian market with a 1,991cc V8, and refurbishment work under prior ownership included rebuilding its engine to displace three liters. Its Hyperion Azzurro Metalizzato exterior was also refinished, and the seats were reupholstered in brown cloth and beige leather. A five-speed manual transaxle, four-wheel independent suspension, 14″ Cromodora alloy wheels, power windows, air conditioning, and a Clarion CD stereo are additional elements. The vehicle was sold on BaT in August 2022 and again on BaT in May 2024, and a subsequent ~$16k service by GTO Engineering of Los Angeles, California, involved servicing body, lighting, brake, ignition, clutch, air conditioning, and interior components. This 208 GT4 shows 49k kilometers (~31k miles) on its repaired odometer and is offered on dealer consignment with a California title.

The 208 GT4 shares bodywork with the Bertone-designed 308 GT4, with steel panels mounted over a tubular chassis. Unique to the 208 GT4 is a smaller front grille opening with horizontal strakes, and this example was repainted under prior ownership in what is said to be its factory shade of Hyperion Azzurro Metalizzato. Exterior details include retractable headlights, chrome trim, and European-spec bumpers with integrated lights as well as a vertical rear window, quad exhaust outlets, and boomerang-shaped air intakes on the sail panels. The Dino badging has been swapped for Ferrari emblems.

Silver-finished 14″ Cromodora wheels with Cavallino Rampante center caps are mounted with 205/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The four-wheel independent suspension is fitted with front and rear anti-roll bars, and braking is handled by a disc at each corner. The brake calipers were rebuilt in 2024.

The 2+2 seating was reupholstered circa 2018 in Chocolate Brown cloth with beige leather side accents and blue piping. The cabin has air conditioning, power windows, a Clarion CD stereo, a mirror mounted to the glove box lid, and a gated shifter. The heater valve and air conditioning compressor were replaced in 2024, and the rearview mirror was repaired along with the horn, power windows, and door panel lights.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts silver-tone panels and Dino-branded Veglia Borletti instrumentation, which consists of a 280-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,200-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The fuel-level sender was repaired in 2024 along with the speedometer, which has a five-digit odometer showing 49k kilometers (~31k miles).

The transversely-mounted 1,991cc DOHC V8 was rebuilt under prior ownership, and its displacement was increased to 3.0 liters with JE pistons, oversized stainless-steel valves, ported cylinder heads, and P6 camshafts. Induction is via quad Weber 34 DCNF carburetors, while ignition is managed by a twin-coil system, and previously installed smog equipment has been removed. In 2024, the starter was rebuilt; the distributors were adjusted; and the ignition coils and positive battery terminal were replaced.

A five-speed manual transaxle completes the powertrain. The clutch cable was replaced in 2024, as well.

Repairs completed in 2024 are itemized in an August 2024 invoice shown further in the gallery below, which also has a May 2024 estimate with additional details.
