1994 RUF RCT

This 1994 RUF RCT is reportedly the single example built by the Pfaffenhausen, Germany-based tuner on a 964 RS chassis, and it was subsequently used as a development car and press vehicle. It remained with its first private owner in Heinsberg, Germany from September 1994 until 2017 and was imported to the US in 2021. The car is finished in Polar Silver Metallic over black leather and tartan plaid cloth upholstery, and power comes from a turbocharged and intercooled 3.6-liter flat-six with Bosch Motronic engine management paired with a RUF six-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes a seam-welded chassis, an aluminum hood, a whale-tail spoiler, a RUF exhaust, 18″ RUF/Speedline wheels, Recaro Pole Position seats, manual crank windows, a Blaupunkt Montreux stereo, and green-letter VDO gauges. This RUF RCT is now offered on dealer consignment in Thousand Oaks, California with Porsche factory books, a RUF certificate, tools, a spare spoiler, literature, and a clean Michigan title.

The RCT, or RUF Carrera Turbo, was built on the Porsche 964 chassis from 1992 to 1997. The model was developed by Alois Ruf Jr. using spare components from Carrera 2,4, and RS cars that had been converted to BTR IIIs. Beginning life as a Carrera RS, this example retains its seam-welded body shell as well as an aluminum hood, rolled fenders, and thinner side and rear windows compared to those used on the standard Carrera.

The car is finished in Polar Silver Metallic and features faux fog lights, side marker lamps, blue-lens reverse lights, and an RCT-branded decklid with a whale-tail spoiler. A spare color-matched whale tail spoiler is included in the sale and can be seen in the gallery.

The 18″ RUF/Speedline five-spoke wheels are mounted with 235/40 front and 265/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The suspension and brakes were modified by RUF, and a strut tower brace spans the front trunk. Stopping power is provided by black-painted calipers over cross-drilled rotors at all four corners.

The cockpit features black leather-trimmed Recaro Pole Position seats that were reupholstered with tartan plaid cloth inserts under previous ownership. The car features reduced cabin insulation compared to the standard Carrera, and it came from the factory without airbags, air conditioning, or rear seats. Equipment includes manual crank windows, red door pull straps and seat belts, a Blaupunkt Montreux stereo, and RUF-branded sill plates.

The leather-wrapped RUF three-spoke steering wheel frames modified VDO green-letter instrumentation including a central 8k-rpm tachometer, a 360-km/h speedometer, a clock, and combination gauges. The six-digit odometer on this 1994 RUF RCT shows 41k kilometers (~25k miles).

The turbocharged and intercooled 3.6-liter flat-six features Bosch Motronic engine management, and it was factory rated at 370 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a RUF-designed six-speed manual transaxle. The car is also equipped with a RUF exhaust system.

The included German-language RUF certificate notes that the car was the sole RCT developed from a 964 RS and that it was initially used by the company as a development car and press vehicle.

This car was featured in Hypebeast, Hagerty, Uncrate, SuperCars.net, and more!
