1985 AM General M1045 HMMWV Open Top

This 1985 AM General M1045 HMMWV has traveled fewer than 3,500 miles since it underwent refurbishment work between 2014 and 2016. In addition to a tan repaint and overhauling the truck’s 6.2-liter diesel V8, the project involved replacing components for its exterior, interior, suspension, brakes, and drivetrain, which has a three-speed automatic transmission, a two-speed transfer case, and dual Torsen limited-slip differentials. Additional equipment includes 16.5″ 12-bolt beadlock wheels, 37×12.50″ military-specification tires, inboard disc brakes, a tan soft top and doors, and four cloth-trimmed bucket seats. Acquired by the selling dealer after it was previously sold on BaT in May 2024, this HMMWV is offered at no reserve in California with a clean Arizona title.

The High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) went into production for military use in 1984, and the M1045 variant was used primarily as an armament carrier. This one was disassembled and refinished in tan Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC) during its refurbishment, per the selling dealer, who adds that its windshield glass, rear bumper, soft top, soft doors, reflectors, airlift hooks, fender liners, side mirrors, and wipers were replaced. LED headlights and an Ibis Tek HID light bar are additional elements.

Black-finished 16.5″ 12-bolt beadlock steel wheels are mounted with 37×12.50″ Goodyear Wrangler MT military-specification tires with run-flat capability. The truck rides on an independent suspension, and stopping power is provided by inboard-mounted disc brakes. The refurbishment project is also said to have included replacing the wheels, tires, emergency brake, power steering pump, idler arm, CV axle assemblies, and shocks as well as the brake booster, master cylinder, rotors, calipers, and lines.

The repainted interior houses four bucket seats trimmed in green cloth. Details include a heater, green floor liners, three-point seatbelts, and auxiliary switches.

The steering wheel, steering column, horn button, turn indicator, instrument bezel, and gauges are noted interior replacements. The five-digit odometer shows 3,200 miles since the vehicle was returned to service. Total mileage is unknown.

Factory rated at 150 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter diesel V8 drives all four wheels through a 3L80 three-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials. The driveshafts are said to have been replaced during the refurbishment along with the differentials, which are reportedly fitted with 2.56:1 gearing.

The data plate shown above displays the serial number 529316, which is listed as the VIN on the Arizona title.
