This 1984 Nissan Skyline RS-X Turbo C is powered by a 2.0-liter FJ20ET inline-four outfitted with a Garrett turbocharger, a front-mount intercooler, and a GREX auxiliary oil cooler, while shifting is via a five-speed manual transmission linked with a limited-slip differential. Finished in white with RS-Turbo side graphics, the car rides on 15″ alloy wheels and has been modified with R32-specification front disc brakes, Cusco front coilovers, and aftermarket rear coilovers. Inside, black and red cloth upholstery is accompanied by air conditioning, a cassette stereo, and power windows as well as a GReddy boost gauge and supplementary Defi gauges. This DR30 “Tekkamen” Skyline is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve in California with a clean Washington State title.
The RS version of the R30 Skyline was revised in 1983 with slimmer headlights, a more sloped hood, a revised front bumper and air dam, and two narrow slits in place of the earlier exposed grille. This example left the factory in White (002) and features an RS-X Turbo C–specific intercooler intake vent along the lower-left side of the front bumper cover as well as RS-Turbo graphics and side skirts. Headlight washers, fog lamps, and a rear wiper are further details. Flaws in the finish are shown up close in the gallery below.
Multi-spoke 15″ wheels with Skyline-branded center caps are mounted with 205/60 Falken Sincera SN250 A/S tires, while a non-matching spare is stored in the trunk compartment. The RS-X was equipped from the factory with power steering and four-wheel disc brakes, and this example is noted to have been modified with R32-specification four-piston calipers and Cusco coilovers up front as well as aftermarket coilovers out back.
The cabin houses bolstered front bucket seats trimmed in black cloth with red centers that extend to the door panels and rear bench seat. A power-adjustable driver’s seat, air conditioning, a cassette stereo, and power windows were standard equipment on the RS-X.
The three-spoke steering wheel features a Skyline logo on the horn button and fronts a 180-km/h speedometer, a 9k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. A GReddy boost gauge and a Defi Stepmaster tachometer with a shift light flank the instrument panel, while supplementary Defi gauges monitoring water temperature, oil temperature, and oil pressure are mounted atop the center stack. The six-digit odometer shows 136k kilometers (~85k miles).
The 2.0-liter FJ20ET inline-four is equipped with a single Garret T03 turbocharger and a sequential fuel injection system. The Turbo C was the only DR30 model outfitted with an intercooler from the factory, and output was rated at a claimed 202 horsepower when new. A GREX auxiliary oil cooler has been installed, and further modifications include a Blitz air cleaner, an in-line electric fuel pump, and an Ultra ignition coil and wires.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and an R200 limited-slip differential. An aftermarket cat-back exhaust system with dual outlets has been added.
The vehicle has not been inspected by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair or Air Resources Board, and it cannot be sold to an in-state private party buyer.
