This 1982 Avanti II is one of a reported 188 units produced for the model year, and this example was first sold at Larry Bock Motors of Naples, Florida. Finished in yellow over two-tone leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 305ci Chevrolet V8 linked with a four-speed automatic transmission. It is also equipped with a glass sunroof, Cibie fog lights, dual exhaust outlets, chrome-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo, cruise control, a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel, Recaro front bucket seats, power windows and door locks, and Coco Mats. The car was previously sold on BaT in October 2023, and work performed since that time included repairs to the heater, air conditioning, and brakes in addition to replacing the valve cover gaskets. This Avanti shows 33k miles and is now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment in California with manufacturer’s literature, spare parts, recent records, and a clean Montana title.
The fiberglass body left the factory finished in Waxberry Yellow. Features include a glass sunroof, Cibie fog lights, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome-finished bumpers. Blemishes are noted at the left-front fender, the fuel filler door, and the rear bumper.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels are mounted with 215/70 BFGoodrich Advantage Control tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Work performed in September 2022 included flushing the brake fluid along with replacing the front shocks, rear brake shoes, and wheel cylinders. The brakes were overhauled in December 2023 with replacement hardware and a rebuilt booster.
The Recaro bucket seats and the rear bench seat are upholstered in two-tone Waxberry leather, and the driver’s seat upholstery was repaired in February 2024. Italian ash wood veneer accents the dashboard and center console, and additional equipment includes cruise control, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo, and Coco Mats as well as power windows and door locks.
The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel was installed over a tilting column in 2024 and fronts Stewart Warner instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles, approximately 1,700 of which were added under current ownership.
The 305ci Chevrolet V8 was factory rated at 150 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. The alternator was replaced in September 2022, and the valve cover gasket and EGR valve were replaced in December 2023, at which time the heater was repaired. In August 2024, the carburetor was rebuilt, the spark plugs and engine mounts were replaced, and the air conditioning was repaired.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission that received a fluid flush in December 2023.
