This 1971 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is powered by a 455ci V8 and is one of 885 examples produced for the model year with an M22 four-speed manual transmission. The current owner purchased the car in 2015, and refurbishment work in 2018 and 2019 involved disassembling and removing the front end, drivetrain, and suspension components, media blasting and refinishing components, and rebuilding the engine and transmission. The car is refinished in white with a blue hood stripe over black custom knit vinyl, and equipment includes a shaker hood, 15″ Rally II wheels, power-assisted brakes, power steering, front bucket seats, a rear window defogger, rear shoulder belts, an AM/FM radio, a rear-mounted cassette deck, and air conditioning. This Firebird Trans Am is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with a broadcast sheet, PHS documents, refurbishment records, the owner’s manual, a car cover, car show awards, and a clean California title.
The car is refinished in white, and exterior equipment includes a shaker hood, a front air dam and spoiler, front fender vents, a blue hood stripe, bright trim, a rear decklid spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets. The hood, windshield, and side windows were replaced.
The 15″ Rally II wheels were refinished in February 2016 and are mounted with 245/50 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes.
The seating surfaces are trimmed in black custom knit vinyl (219). Engine-turned metal trim accents on the dash were refurbished in 2019. Interior equipment includes front bucket seats, a center console, a rear window defogger, rear shoulder belts, an AM/FM radio, a rear-mounted cassette deck, and air conditioning. The radio and cassette deck were rebuilt.
The Formula steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a fuel level gauge, and warning lights for oil pressure, amperage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer on this 1971 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am shows 98k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The LS5 455ci High Output V8 features a four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 305 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt in December 2018 by Donrich Machine & Driveline of Exeter, Nebraska. The carburetor, alternator, radiator, water pump, HVAC system, water pump, and power steering pump were also overhauled, per the seller, and the wiring harnesses, fuel tank, left exhaust manifold, and exhaust system were replaced.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission and a Safe-T-Trac Differential. The transmission was rebuilt in March 2019.
