This 1961 Porsche 356B is a Reutter-built T5 coupe that was initially sold by West Slope Motor Company of Portland, Oregon, and later spent time in California prior to being refurbished in the 2010s. Finished in blue over gray leather, the car is powered by a replacement 1,720cc flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels, finned drum brakes, Koni shocks, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Blaupunkt push-button radio. The car was acquired by the current owner on BaT in October 2023, and subsequent work has involved replacing the Weber carburetors, fuel pump, starter, battery, and distributor as well as repairing the parking brake and various fuel leaks. This 356B is now offered on dealer consignment with a tool kit, partial service records, and a California title.
The T5 body was introduced for the 1960 model year with revised front-end styling, including raised bumpers and headlights along with a redesigned front trunk lid handle. This Reutter-built example is finished in Aetna Blue (6003) and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Various trim pieces and badges were also replaced or refinished at that time. Exterior details include a left mirror, 1600 Super badging, a single decklid grille, and body-colored bumpers with chrome overriders and integrated exhaust outlets.
Chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels wear Porsche-crest hubcaps and are mounted with 195/65 Michelin Premier tires, while a full-size spare is stored in the front trunk compartment. Koni shocks are installed at each corner, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel finned drum brakes. The parking brake cable was replaced and the system repaired under current ownership.
The cabin was reupholstered in 2012 and houses front bucket seats and rear jump seats trimmed in gray leather that extends to the door and quarter panels. The ceiling wears a perforated white headliner, while the gray squareweave carpets are covered with black Coco mats and rubber floor linings. Additional appointments include lap belts, map pockets, and a Blaupunkt push-button radio.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel features a Porsche horn button and fronts a body-color dashboard that houses green-letter VDO instrumentation consisting of a central 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer on this 1961 Porsche 356B shows 85k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement flat-four is said to have been rebuilt and modified to displace 1,720cc before being installed as part of the refurbishment. Replacement Weber carburetors were installed under current ownership, and additional work involved replacing the starter, distributor, battery cover, battery, fuel pump, and more as viewable on records provided in the gallery. Various case components have been re-stamped.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
