1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL

This 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL was refurbished under prior ownership and acquired by the current owner in 2020. The car is finished in ivory over blue leather upholstery and is powered by a 1.9-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It is equipped with a blue convertible soft top, a Becker Europa AM/FM radio, and 13″ wheels with chrome covers. Service in preparation for the sale is said to have included replacement of the generator, voltage regulator, heater core, and tires along with changing the engine oil and coolant. This 190SL is now offered on dealer consignment with and a clean California title.

The car was refinished in ivory under prior ownership and features a replacement blue convertible soft top. Additional equipment includes a driver-side mirror, and a bright windshield surround, grille, and bumpers. Paint cracks and other imperfections are pictured in the gallery below.

Steel 13″ wheels wear chrome covers and are wrapped in whitewall tires that were reportedly mounted in preparation for the sale. The car is equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension, rear swing axles with coil springs, and power-assisted drum brakes.

The cabin features low-back bucket seats upholstered in Blue leather as well as matching door panels and dashboard trim. Appointments include an analog clock, a Becker Europa AM/FM radio, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror. The heater core was recently replaced according to the selling dealer.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 26k miles, a handful of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 1.9-liter M121 inline-four was factory rated at 104 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque. The selling dealer states that the generator and voltage regulator were replaced, and the oil and coolant were serviced in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission.

Chassis number 121042109500595 is pictured above, and the same sequence is prepended with an “A” on the California title.
