This 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint was produced for the Mexican market on October 30, 1958, and it underwent a multi-year refurbishment project during the 2010s. Work involved refinishing the body in red, overhauling the 1,290cc twin-cam inline-four, and installing a five-speed manual transmission. The car rides on 15″ ventilated steel wheels and is further equipped with finned front drum brakes, Koni shocks, Centerline springs, and replacement Imasaf exhaust components. Acquired by the current owner in 2022, this Tipo 750B is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean California title.
The Giulietta platform debuted in Sprint coupe form in 1954 and was joined in 1955 by the Berlina sedan, followed in mid-1955 by the Pinin Farina–styled spider. This example was refinished in red as part of the aforementioned refurbishment, at which time a replacement windshield and stainless-steel bumpers were installed. A number of trim pieces were also re-chromed, and the weatherstripping was replaced throughout. Flaws in the finish are shown up-close in the gallery below.
Vented 15″ steel wheels wear Alfa Romeo–branded hubcaps and 155-width Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were mounted in 2018. A matching spare is stored in the trunk. The car rides on Koni shocks paired with Centerline springs, while stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes with finned-aluminum units up front.
The refreshed cabin houses low-back front bucket seats trimmed in red vinyl with beige inserts, and matching upholstery extends to the door panels as well as the rear parcel shelf. A black dash pad tops the body-color metal dashboard, while gray carpets cover the floors. Lap belts are equipped for both occupants, and the door sills wear Carrozzeria Bertone–branded plates.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a metal horn ring along with a gold-finished Giulietta Sprint horn button. The Veglia instrumentation was overhauled during the refurbishment and consists of a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset oil-pressure readout flanked by a 180-km/h speedometer and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 34k kilometers (~21k miles), a handful of which have been added under current ownership. The selling dealer states that total mileage on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint is unknown.
The 1,290cc twin-cam inline-four was rebuilt in 2013 by Santo’s Italian Car Service of Northridge, California, with replacement pistons, bearings, and valves. Induction is via a single carburetor with a black air cleaner.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission that was overhauled prior to being installed in 2020. The car has been fitted with replacement Imasaf exhaust components, and a Facet electric fuel pump is installed out back.
