This 2008 Tesla Roadster is finished in Midnight Blue over two-tone yellow leather and has 13k miles following history in Washington state, Kentucky, and California. It features a 53-kilowatt-hour battery pack powering a three-phase AC induction motor paired with a single-speed transmission, and other equipment includes 16″ and 17″ five-spoke wheels, heated sport seats, and a JVC stereo. Acquired by the current owner on BaT in September 2021, this Roadster is now offered on dealer consignment with manufacturer’s literature and accessories, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The Tesla Roadster was based on the aluminum tub from the contemporary Lotus Elise, with which it shared its windshield and windshield frame. The remainder of the carbon-fiber body panels were unique to the Tesla, and it utilized a 2″ longer wheelbase than the Elise. This example is finished in Twilight Blue Metallic and features an exterior charging port, an integrated rear spoiler, and LED taillights.
The 16″ and 17″ split five-spoke wheels are mounted with Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 tires measuring 175/55 up front and 225/45 out back. The car is equipped with traction control as well as front and rear independent wishbone suspension with co-axial coil springs and telescopic dampers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with a regenerative braking system.
The heated sport seats are upholstered in two-tone yellow leather that extends to the door panel inserts, and the interior also features a black dashboard and carpets. Other appointments comprise carbon-fiber trim, cruise control, air conditioning, a JVC stereo, and Tesla-branded door sill plates.
The three-spoke leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel fronts a 150-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 13k-rpm redline. A configurable multifunction LCD screen is mounted to the left of the steering column. The digital odometer indicates 13k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.
A 53-kilowatt-hour battery pack powers a three-phase, 375-volt AC induction motor featuring a hand-wound stator and factory-rated output was 248 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a single-speed transmission.
