Bidding Stalemate on the Soft-Top Targa – 1967 Porsche 912 Auction Closes Without Victor

Concluding the bidding week with a final offer of $51,026, our 1967 912 Targa failed to meet the necessary reserve. Factory manufactured with some exciting optional extras, we were surprised to see this one close without a winner. The eye-catching Golden Green paint (an exclusively optional paintwork selection) was repainted once to restore the lost luster of the factory look but still attracts strong attention even at Porsche-only events. Inside, the black vinyl upholstery was also refreshed. The factory optioned wooden steering wheel and an aftermarket shift knob that prominently features a colored Porsche crest nicely compliment the deep black interior color.

Previously the owner recorded the engine and transmission numbers which Porsche used to confirm in a Certificate of Authenticity that these match the original units. Nearly entirely original, the only upgrades or enhancements were to the stereo and loudspeaker (aftermarket units) and 14” Fuchs wheels that replaced the original chrome wheels. The original carburetors are no longer used as they require rebuilding, but a set of contemporary split-shaft Solex units perfectly supplants them. Although the sale has closed this pretty Porsche is still available for purchase. Included in that sale are all of these exciting options, any removed accessories, all of the available maintenance records, the COA, and a clean California title.
