Bidding On the BMW – 1958 BMW Isetta 300 Auction Closes

Yesterday the auction closed on our 1958 BMW Isetta 300 without meeting the reserve price. Closing out at $28,000, the auction’s bidding came close to matching the basic asking price for this exceptionally restored example but tapered off just shy of the magic mark. A refurbished exterior and interior by Isettas R Us – a premier purveyor of Isetta models – six years ago still exudes the quality in their craftsmanship and care. The blue and white paintwork with 10” polished steel wheels and whitewall tires flawlessly fit the fifties aesthetic. Inside, the exquisite white leather is sensually suited to the elegant but simple European demeanor of the microcar. Isetta R Us had also rebuilt and installed a non-original (to this chassis) single-cylinder air-cooled BMW motorcycle motor. With only 15,000 miles on the ticker, the engine renders a peppy driving experience – all at 94mpg! Complete with the original sales brochure, a new battery, and a fresh oil service recently done, this little Isetta seemed like the obvious option to anyone looking to set themselves apart at a local car meet. So while the Isetta did not sell this time around, there are still possibilities to purchase it.
