Another Air-Cooled Porsche Purchased – 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa Auction Closed

Concluding its auction week at a well-fetched bid of $40,500 (plus fees), our 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa has found itself a new home! The Marine Blue beauty with a soft Linen leather and carpet interior sew the perfect blend of a light-and-dark color combination, and the 3.2-liter motor had a scant 91,000 miles on the clock. The G-series Carrera has long been a favorite purchase for those interested in the purest of Porsches. The final evolution of the original 911 shape and body, the G-series (1984-89) was entirely analog, and its powerplant reputably retains honors as being one of the most bullet-proof blocks ever built by Porsche.

Equipped with a removable top, the Targa nicely slots the gap between irksome cabriolets and those who want the rigidity of a coupe but still crave the occasional open-air experience. This Targa had a body-color matched roll bar and sported a Carrera tail that both worked well to dress up the exterior beyond the stock appearance. Plus, the original 16” black and polished metal forged Fuchs wheels received new tires now that the sale has closed.

Opening a door and stepping inside brings you into the bright Linen cabin that has been appropriately taken care of, as evident by how well the soft white carpeting shows relatively little discoloration. Furthermore, the side bolsters on the front seats are still tightly sewn with little-to-no abrasions present. Wonderfully complementing the exterior hue, the door tops, dashboard bottom, steering wheel, and rear speaker deck were all finished over in a dark blue vinyl. Completing the interior is the original blue leather four-spoke steering wheel and factory Blaupunkt radio!

We hope that the proud new owner of this Carrera enjoys the exacting precision these early G-series 911 provide along with a seat-depressing 217 horsepower. Happy motoring!
