The Big Benz Goes Bye-Bye! Sold – 1972 Mercedes-Benz 600

A big sale closes down on the big Benz! Our Ivory over tan Mercedes with its behemoth 6.3-liter V8 sold at an astonishing, but well worth it, $82,000 last week. In the past few years the Mercedes 600 series, of which a scant 2,190 short-wheel based units were produced during the 18-year production run, have steadily increased in value and appreciation by the classic car community.

The lethal combination of a potent and reliable engine, elegant styling, both coupled with a multitude of powered luxury equipment inside the cabin have earned the adoring respect of owners. It has also no doubt aided them in decisions of restoration and upkeep. This 600, with a refrigerator, sunroof, rear radio controls, rear climate control, and $20k in service records, was a natural choice for any collector or enthusiast looking to pick up the ultra luxurious, high-end model from the era when Mercedes “spared no expense.” Congratulations go out to the lucky winner; we all look forward to seeing its commanding presence on the streets.
